Savannah College of Art and Design (Savannah, Ga)  has an annual Sidewalk Art Festival in Forsyth Park (downtown Savannah.)  Alumni, students and prospective students spend several hours planning and then creating these short-lived works of chalk art.  It is a wonderful event and has grown to include music and other presentations and activities.

The Jepson Center for the Arts (part of the Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences) in downtown Savannah provided a wonderful venue for the creation of a Sand Mandala by monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery (located in north Georgia.)
